warbington farms tea partyA soggy forecast shouldn’t dampen fun family plans for the weekend. Here are a few fun things to do this weekend in Forsyth County, GA.

Friday, May 29

11:00 pm – 2:30 pm – Post Road Library – Super Summer Reading Kick-Off Carnival. Sign up to participate in Summer Reading Fun and celebrate the start of summer!  You could even win a gift card to the movies just for registering for Summer Reading Fun! No registration required.  All ages welcome! Cameron’s One Man Circus:  Shows at 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Face Painting and Balloon Art:  12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

8:00 pm – Sawnee Mountain Music – Frances Mooney and Fontanna Sunset. Wonderful springtime for Bluegrass Music. Tickets $10.00. Call 770-887-7635 for details. www.fontannasunset.com

Saturday, May 30

8:30 am – Cross Country Stampede. The CCS is a 4th annual event. It is a 5k obstacle trail run held on the Watson Family Farm in Cumming, GA. You will get to experience pasture, woods, water, mud, & obstacles on our 1 lap course. CCS is going to be a self-timed event!!! All ages 5 & up are welcome. All proceeds from the 2015 race will go to Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church & to The American Diabetes Association.

10:00 am – 1:00 pm – Strawberry Shortcake Tea Party at Warbington Farms. Join us for a “berry” special event on May 30th. We will have tea and light refreshments, story with STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE and each child gets to pick a pint of strawberries! And Anna and Elsa from Fairytale Friends will be there! Plus we will have a strawberry themed photo booth so bring your camera or phone to take pictures! Admission to tea party does include the fun park (hayride, petting zoo, corn crib, inflatables, etc). $10 Kids and $5 adults (only $2 more than regular fun park admission for kids). Adults can pick their own gallon of berries for $12 a gallon. Bring a blanket or towel for story-time. Feel free to bring a picnic if you would like to eat lunch after the tea party or you can purchase food from the concession stand. The pavilion will be open till 2pm for picnics but Strawberry Shortcake will be leaving at 1:15. No reservation needed but please “Join” this event if you plan on attending so we can have an idea of how many will be joining us.

10:00 am – 2:00 pm – Bicycle Rodeo at the Cumming Fairgrounds Parking Log. Join us on Saturday for the Safe Summer Kickoff! The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office will join Safe Kids Forsyth for a bicycle rodeo and safety festival. We will be distributing a limited supply of helmets, so bring yours if you have one. Volunteers will be teaching bicycle control, balance, and riding courtesy. Our Bike Patrol Unit will also be on scene for riding demonstrations. The event will be held at the Cumming Fairgrounds Parking Lot at 300 Castleberry Road from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Michaels KIDS CLUB. Make DIY Paper Fans. Ages 3 and up are welcome to this event. See a store associate for details today. $2.00. Let your kids explore their creativity while you shop! Only $2 per child reserves 30 minutes for your creative kid. Sessions starting every half hour from 10:00am – 11:30am. See a store associate to join the fun!

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble story time at The Collection Forsyth. Join us for Storytime and activities featuring Peanut Butter & Cupcake. What’s a little piece of bread to do when he’s feeling lonely? Find a friend, of course! And that’s exactly what Peanut Butter tries to do.

11:00 am – Cumming Library – Story Time – Award-winning author Marcie May will read and perform music from Penny and Tubs: The Mystery of the Crystal Waterfall, the second book in her Penny and Tubs series.
