fairFall is in full swing in Forsyth County, GA! There’s lots of things to do for families in and around Cumming, GA this weekend. Here’s a roundup. Please comment and share any other events that you know of! Have you picked your pumpkinyet?

Friday, October 5

4:00 pm – 7:00 pm – Market 334 Fall Festival – Market 334 is an artisan boutique full of hand-crafted funky finds.  It is an upscale boutique selling vintage clothing, jewelry, home decor, pottery, natural soaps, folk art and so much more!  There will be live music, over 90 artisans and vendors, and food by Mia’s Pizza and Eats.

4:00 pm – 12:00 am – Cumming Country Fair – visit the Cumming Fairgrounds for some old fashioned country fun.

Saturday, October 6

9:00 am – 12:00 pm – Home Depot Kids Workshop – Build a fire truck for fire safety month!

9:00 am – 12:00 pm – Community Safety Fair – Home Depot Parking Lot, Marketplace Blvd., Cumming, GA – Join the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and Home Depot as they kickoff National Crime Prevention Month. Get a closer look at firetrucks, patrol cars, ambulances, even a helicopter! Child safety seat checks, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, horses from the FCSO mounted patrol, K9 demonstrations, SWAT vehicles and equipment, live entertainment and more!

12:00 9m – 4:00 pm – Petco, Marketplace Blvd., Cumming, GA – Humane Society of Forsyth County will be hosting a pet adoption day for dogs and cats only. The Humane Society of Forsyth County is a NO KILL animal shelter. For more info or to donate visit forsythpets.org.

11:00 am – 6:00 pm – Warbington Farms opens for the season! Enjoy family fun with a hey ride, inflatables, playground, petting zoo and more. Admission Weekends – $7 Per Child 12 & under – $3 Per Person 13 & Up.

11:00 am – Barnes & Noble storytime at The Avenues Forsyth. Special event – Star Wars Read Day! Join the Star Wars Reads Day celebration on Saturday, October 6 with events ranging from readings to crafts, activities, prizes, giveaways and much more. Come dressed in costume and enter our costume contest. We hope to see you, and may the force be with you.

Saturday, October 6, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Downtown Alpharetta Farmers Market – Alpharetta City Hall Parking Lot
Located in the charming downtown historic district, this outdoor market offers homegrown fruits and vegetables, all natural meats, fresh flowers and plants, and a variety of edible goodies, from yummy desserts to local raw honey and homemade sauces and jellies. Named “Best Saturday Morning Excursion” by Atlanta Magazine.
October 6, 2012, 10:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. Scarecrow Harvest – Old Roswell & Old Canton Streets 
Alpharetta’s downtown streets will be lined with 100 scarecrows to celebrate its fall spirit.  Join in on the free family entertainment that includes the country music of High Cotton, games of cornhole, face painting, artsy activities, story-telling and inflatables. Take a hay ride to the Future Farmers of America log cabin and participate in old timey demonstrations
Stone Mountain Pumpkin Festival from September 28 – October 28, 2012. Enjoy the beautiful fall colors and cooler weather at Atlanta’s favorite place to celebrate the fall season. Now in it’s 10th year, Stone Mountain Park’s annual Pumpkin Festival has become a family favorite with kids and parents alike. Saturday 10:30 a.m. – 7 p.m. | Lasershow at 8 p.m. Friday and Sunday 10:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
There is a new LEGO® Store in North Point Mall.  Check the Calendar of Events page for a list of fun activities going on throughout the week.
Hillcrest Orchards – Apple Pickin’ Jubilee begins September 8! Hillcrest Orchards is open daily: 9:00am – 6:00pm (Sept. 8 – Oct.) Admission is $6.00 per person. Click here for directions and more information. Apple varieties: Golden & Red Delicious, Granny Smith, Fuji, Pinata, Ambrosia, Gala & Honey Crisp with more coming in. Pig races are at 12:30 pm, 2:30 pm & 4:30 pm each day of the festival.

Burt’s Pumpkin Farm – 5 Burt’s Farm Rd Dawsonville, Georgia 30534. Hours will be from 9:00 a.m. till 6:00 p.m. Admission is free. The hayrides will be weekends only until October then the hayrides will be 7 days a week. Hayride cost: Adults $5.00, Kids 12 & under $4.00, infants 12 months and under free.

APPLE ORCHARDS/CORN MAZES/FARM FUN

It is the start of apple season and the orchards are opening!  Here is a directory of apple orchards and festivals in North Georgia. There are also corn mazes opening from Buford to Uncle Shuck’s to the North Georgia corn maze! Cagle’s Family Farm and Kinsey Family Farm are also fun-filled places to visit.
